Teton Valley Rotary celebrated the successes of local students at a recent scholarship luncheon.  Five scholarship winners from Teton High School along with their parents attended.  Graduating seniors being honored this year included Arely Baez, Karli Breckenridge, Riley Hodgson, Sean Riley, and Megan Woolstenhulme.

All of the Rotary scholarship recipients achieved high academic standings in their class along with contributing hours of volunteer work to their community.  Karli Breckenridge, Riley Hodgson, Sean Riley and Megan Woolstenhulme all received $1,000 to begin their freshman year at the college of their choice.  Arely was awarded the Phyllis Morey Memorial Scholarship, a renewable $1,000/year award given to students from the Hispanic community who have elected to pursue a 4-yr degree at an accredited college.

Both Riley and Sean were members of Interact, where they held offices and participated in projects. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18 and has almost 200,000 members worldwide. Interact assists future leaders in:

• Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
• Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
• Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
• Advancing international understanding and goodwill

For this year’s Tin Cup Challenge Rotary is focusing on building the Rotary Scholarship fund to further expand the scholarship program as a whole, including increasing opportunities for renewable scholarships assisting students throughout their entire undergraduate program.

Donations through the Tin Cup to the Rotary Foundation will go toward youth leadership, literacy and educational scholarships. With today’s high cost of a college education, our Teton Valley youth deserve our support.  Your donation will help Teton Valley graduates pursue their educational goals.
